Hidden in Plain Sight
I was heavily inspired by what the pub once was when beginning to develop my concept. Pubs are a very symbolic thing in British culture, as they are a place that holds many memories for lots of people, despite the decline of pubs in the recent years. However, with lots of research, I believe I have designed a pub to replace the once important Wattstown Hotel that can be sustainable, both economically and environmentally.
This pub has a stage which allows dart competitions, with the rise of darts in young people this will encourage them to visit the pub. There has also been a decrease in drinking with young people, so stand up comedy, quiz nights and other themed events will be another draw to the pub.
Finally, I have included two functions rooms of vary sizes, and a meeting room, with a built in wall divider. This will provide a space for the community to hold meetings, professional interviews or a quiet space to work away from home.
